As a virtual assistant, I feel truly humbled and proud that my clients trust me enough to grant me complete access to their diaries, they open their world up to me and allow me to see where they are and what they’re doing and they trust and rely on me to keep their world up to date and running smoothly – I take that responsibility extremely seriously and do everything I can to maintain and respect their trust in me.
However, no matter how much you trust someone, everyone, sometimes, has certain things going on in their lives which they would like to remain private, that’s completely normal and totally understandable! So how do you keep things private when you still need someone, a VA for example, to have access to your Google calendar and the ability to see where you are at any given time, and to modify and edit your calendar? Fear not, this is easily solved…..
When you set up an event in your Google calendar, by default the event will set at the level you have granted to an individual i.e. someone who has full access will automatically be able to see the new event details unless you say otherwise.
If you need your new event to remain completely private and for your eyes only, you just need to change the privacy setting –
Go to the ‘more options’ tab on your event booking –
You’ll see the ‘default visibility’ tab down the right hand side list of options, click on this and click on ‘private’.
Any event that you mark as private will only ever be seen by you and the people you choose to share it with.
